real leather

What exactly is genuine leather?

Genuine leather is derived from animals, such as pigskin, sheepskin, or crocodile skin. The initial layer of leather is either produced directly from the raw skin of various animals or is cut into upper and lower layers from the thick skin of cattle, pigs, and horses, for example. The upper section is treated to create the initial layer of leather. The second layer of leather is composed of PU resin and the animal skin’s bottom layer of skin or waste material. The second layer’s hardness, hand feel, and abrasion resistance are significantly lower than those of the first layer of leather.

How to distinguish real leather and polyurethane leather?

1). based on visual recognition

To begin, we must identify the characteristics of the leather pattern, pores, and so on. On the surface of natural leather, we can observe that holes exist and are unevenly distributed, that there are animal fibers, that the layers are visible, and that there are animal fibers in the bottom layer. On your fingernails, there will be leather fibers, a napping sensation, and a small number of fibers that are removable, and the faux leather can reveal the fabric, there is no animal fiber in the side, and the overall epidermal has no pores, but some are imitation leather pores, they will have unwanted pores, some of the patterns will be obscure or have a compared artificial pattern, and the pores are also quite uniform. They may be carefully inspected at this point with the use of a magnifying lens, revealing a subtle variation.

2) odor-based identification

Natural leather has its distinct animal skin odor, which persists even after treatment.

3) distinguish from burning

When natural leather burns, it has a smell of burned hair, and the ash is often brittle.

PU leather vs real leather

PU leather or genuine leather?

In general, real leather (particularly the first layer leather) is substantially more expensive than PU synthetic leather. Does this mean that real leather has superior characteristics to PU? No, that is not the case. Genuine leather is pricey for a variety of reasons. Such as limited resources and the time-consuming processing of animal hides. Natural leather can no longer reach many of the wonderful qualities of polyurethane leather, particularly solvent-free PU and DMF-free water-based PU, thanks to technological advancements. Europe and the United States, for example, are widely acknowledged for their great physical and chemical properties, healthy & eco-friendly & animal-friendly performance, superb uniformity, and so on, and are rapidly replacing real leather with new PU.

1. PU synthetic leather quality worse than real leather?

Answear: This is the question most people ask. The answear is no. The development of polyurethane leather in these years is very rapid. 4. What is PU faux leather’ composition?

Answear: The surface of polyurethane leather is PU (polyurethane), the backing is different fabrics. The composition of backing depends on different backing.

5. How long does polyurethane leather last?

Answear: It is very hard to say, because it depends on how to use this PU products and different kinds of polyurethane leather. With the development of PU synthetic leather, the service life of polyurethane leather has been greatly extended.
